AN EFFECTIVE Alternative to SPINE surgery

A Pain Free Life, Without Surgery

Spine surgery is often presented as the only option, after physiotherapy has failed, but this is a dangerously outdated perspective. Almost 50% of people who undergo back surgery, to treat chronic pain, end up regretting it. Donโ€™t become a statistic. Embrace an effective alternative to spine surgery.

Spine surgery is ineffective for chronic pain.

Here’s the evidence.

If chronic back pain is pushing you towards spine surgery, itโ€™s crucial to understand your outcomes. The evidence, which is substantial, indicates that spine surgery is not the best option for those suffering from chronic pain.

Nervous System focused treatments are non-surgical and show much higher success rates at relieving chronic pain.

Spine surgery has a low success rate

One year after spine surgery, more than 50% (1) of patients are still in a lot of pain, are not able to work and need contact pain medication.

Spine surgery comes with complications

Complications from spine surgery run as high as 25%. They include infection, nerve damage, opioid addiction, chronic pain.

Spine surgery has a high failure rate

Every surgery weakens the spine, leading to more operations. The success rates for a 2nd or 3rd surgery are 30% and 15% (1).

Unlock a pain-free future with an effective alternative to spine surgery

The best alternative to spine surgery is retraining your nervous system

Pain science has evolved

Our understanding of chronic pain has deepened in the last decade. New pain models, such as the Bio-Psycho-Social approach, can treat chronic pain without surgery. Don’t be treated with an outdated pain model!

A high success rate

I use a mind-body approach to treating chronic pain, which means I address both physical and emotional (nervous system) health. The result is that 80% of my clients are free of chronic pain in 12 sessions.

A treatment program unique to you

I work with a range of evidence-based modalities that address the root causes of pain. This enables me to fine tune treatment to meet you wherever you are on your healing journey.

After struggling with lower back pain for years and seeing countless specialists without any lasting improvement, I finally found relief with JP’s approach. It was a game-changer for me.

Pain doesn’t live in your muscles or joints, it just feels that way

The reality, we know understand, is that the nervous system creates all your pain. To effectively treat chronic pain, we must address both the mind and the body. Focusing on just one is insufficient: this is why chronic pain is still such a huge problem in our society.

I use a multi-disciplinary approach. Synthesizing techniques from physical therapy, psychology and stress regulation modalities into my practice to provide comprehensive, effective treatment.

My Treatment Philosophy

Chronic pain is complex. It can be very hard to overcome. That’s why I see myself more as a chronic pain coach than a therapist. I’m dedicated to providing you with support, advice and encouragement at every step. I will put the work in, but you also have a role here. Rebuilding your nervous system requires a lot of effort, as well as an open-mind, a willingness to be curious about your body, and 30 minutes a day.

Every client’s pain is unique, and their treatment program reflects that. Still, most
have to learn concepts and techniques from all three steps of my treatment philosophy.

01

Unlearn what you think you know about pain.

Most people, therapists included, fundamentally misunderstand chronic pain. You can’t fix what you don’t understand.

02

Reconnect to your nervous system.

Pain starts here, yet most of us have spent years, decades even, learning to ignore our nervous system. Start listening and you will start healing.

03

Movement is medicine.

Chronic pain stops us from moving, and over time the body becomes deconditioned. Staying pain free requires you to rediscover safe movement and ways to include it into your life..

AN alternative to SPINE surgery

Relief from chronic back pain starts with actions only you can take
